But this is NOT VALID any more from 1 January 2016

You ought to really take into consideration working on creating this weblog into a serious authority in this market. You evidently have a grasp deal with of the topics everyone is looking for on this web site in any case and you would actually even earn a buck or two off of some advertisements. I would explore following current subjects and raising the amount of write ups you place up and I assure you’d begin seeing some superb targeted visitors in the close to future. Only a thought, good luck in whatever you do!

Hi,I'm from Argentina and I'm planning on visiting Mongolia on the Transsiberian/Transmongolian Railway. The difficulty is that Mongolia doesn't have an embassy in Argentina (the only one in Latin America is in Mexico). I' ve read that you can request the Visa to Mongolia in the city of Irkutsk (Russia). Do you have any information about this??

PS: Your blog is really helping me out!! Thanks for all the info.

To Mongolia said...

Hi

Yes it is easy to apply for a visa at Irkutsk or at Ulan-Ude.
Plan to stay for a few days and you can visit lake Baikal until the visa is ready. From Ulan Ude there is a daily excellent bus to Ulaanbaatar.

Dan

HI Dan, when did you get the visa in Irkustk and can you tell me what the procedure was?

To Mongolia said...

Hi

The procedure is the same at all consulates:

You fill in the visa application form
Add 1 photo
Pay according to the type of visa and urgency you require.
And come back after 3 days to pick it up.

Well, it is really not as simple as you say to get the invitation letter!! All travel agencies and guesthouses that we contacted require that we book a tour with them to make the letter, or they ask 100S or more! We are willing to pay a reasonable fee, but 100$ each seems a bit to much!!! What canyou do if you don't like organized tours ? (we plan to cycle through Mongolia, by ourselves. Anywaym thanks for all the valuable informations in your blog!!

Hi,
I'm Malaysia passport horder,
do we still have free visa to visit Mongolia,
coz i check on your blog is no free visa anymore,
but wikipedia still have free visa,
where can i check for it?

if i want to extend visa must apply it within 7 days when i entered mongolia?

Anonymous said...

Hi

Malaysia passports get free 30 day visa on arrival.
No need for a visa in advance.

You can extend for another 30 days any time.
Best to do it when you arrive, the office is near the airport.

Until 2016 many European countries had free visa, only these European countries need visa from 2016.

All the best

Hi, I'm an Argentinean citizen and as someone mentioned above, there is no consulate in Argentina.

Do you know if there is express visa in Moscow or if it possible to get one in Genghis Kahn interntational airport?

Thanks

Anonymous said...

Hi

If you live in a country with no Mongolian consulate, and your passport is of that same country you live in, and your flight is direct from your home country (or with a short transit stopover on the way) you can apply for a visa on entry at the airport. You will be sent to the immigration office near the airport.

If you arrive in Mongolia after some travel in other countries which have a Mongolian consulate, you should apply for a visa on the way. Moscow has an express visa application, but plan on a few days in Moscow, in case you arrive on a holiday (Russian or Mongolian holidays) or after office hours. In case you will be traveling by train there is a Mongolian consulate in Irkutsk a train station in Russia, on the way to Mongolia.

Thanks Dan. Se were told that there is express visa in irkutsk but not in moscow and we entered in panic as we already have a lot of train tickets. Do you have any more details on the express visa in moscow ( price, time, etc)
Thanks!

Hi

In Google maps search for "Mongoliya Konsulskiy Otdel"
or try the address: Спасопесковский пер 7/1
This is the consulate for visas (not the Embassy which is in a different location).
The Google map has a street photo of the consulate entrance.
The cost for the same day visa is over 100USD Bring a photo, have a name and address of any hotel in UB for when they ask where will you be staying.
Come in the morning after 9:30 to apply, and come again in the afternoon to get the visa.

Good afternoon I'm from Costa Rica and I want to know if I need a Visa to go to Mongolia and if so where do I go or how can I apply for it ? and how much is it ?

Unknown said...

We have already travelled and wanted to share our experience.

We went to the Mongolian consulate in Moscow. It was very hard to communicate as they only speak Russian or Mongolian. We went with all the forms previously completed. We had to wait for a couple of hours until the attended us (even though there was no one ahead of us...).

It costed USD 70 and it was ready the following day in the morning.

COSTA RICA
You need a visa.
Plan your trip to Mongolia through any country that has a Mongolian Embassy, to get a visa.

Hello Dan
Thanks for this great website.
Also, i am in Vientiane,Laos and will apply for a tourist visa tomorrow morning. Any chance to get a 2 months visa with a 4 months validity? If it does not work here, do you suggest me to apply in Hehhot or Earlian to get a 2 months visa?
Best regards
Julien

Anonymous said...

Hi Julien
You will get only a 30 days visa, that you can extend for another 30 days once you enter Mongolia (near the Ulaanbaatar airport).
You will have to use your visa within 3 months from the day it was issued.
The consulate has no authority to change the rules.
Yes you can apply for a visa in China in Beijing, Hehhot or Erlian. Plan to stay there a few days or pay the same day fast visa fee. I am not sure about the extra cost.

All the best
Dan

Hi Hani

Almost all hotels and guesthouses will supply you with an invitation letter,
if you register at least one night with them.
Some will do it for free even if you do not register with them.
Simply contact them and ask for an invitation letter.

All the best

Dear Dan,
I am Sri Lankan expecting to visit Mongolia on an official assignment during the month of June. Sri Lanka does not have a Mongolian consulate. To whom should I tender my application to obtain visa for Mongolia. Who will be the authorized agent for that

Hi M.A.K

The Mongolian consulate in New Delhi is authorized to deal with visa issues for citizens of Sri Lanka.
You can do it by FedEx.

APPLYING IN HK, PAYMENT OF FEE

FROM WEBSITE
Visa fee is nonrefundable and it shall be paid through bank transfer to the below account of the Consulate General of Mongolia to Hong Kong. Original payment slip shall be submitted to visa officer upon collecting your passport.
Bank name: Bank of China Hong Kong Branch
Account name: Consulate General of Mongolia to Hong Kong and Macao SAR’s PRC
Account number: 012-916-1-118771-4

I am not from HK. My local bank in Europe will make the processing a real hassle. Does anyone know if I go to a bank in HK will they make a payment for me even if I am not a customer?

Yes, that is the normal procedure.
You pay cash at a bank in HK, and they transfer it to the Mongolian consulate account.
You than bring the slip of paper to the consulate showing the transfer.
