Rain hail and the worst flooding in over 40 years has claimed 23 lives
and damaged over 2,000 homes. Flash floods, may have been made worse by
deforestation. Most of the damage was in the Ger districts around the
capital, Ulan Bator, and in the province of Gobi-Altai. The damages
in the city include severe damage to power lines and the collapse of
the Zaysan bridge over the tuul river leading to the wealthiest suburb of Mongolia on the
south side of Ulaanbaatar.
