    Hi To Mongolia. Thank you for Informations. I have found out from your blog what I wanted. I want you to post something on Mongolia, Wiki-travel, because there was not enough informations about Mongolia. Especially in the title of "get in"... You can post there the way to get in Mongolia. for example: Bulgan crossing border... Good luck!

    The Naadam at Chandman -Öndör is not performed every year. Unfortunately I do not have details about 2012 Naadam in Chandman -Öndör.

    I've been following your blog for sometime now. It's very very helpful. It's where I found the detailed schedule of the 2012 Naadam.
    I would like to know if the 10,000 Camel Festival at Tsonjin Boldog is happening on the 22nd of September, as scheduled? Thanks very much advance for your reply.

    You have quoted correctly -
    The 10,000 camel caravan was scheduled for 22nd September at
    Tsonjin Boldog (where the large Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue is located).

    I do not have any information on cancellation or change of date.

    CNN BBC and other TV channels have been invited.

    It is expected to become a World Guinness Record of the largest camel caravan.

    I hope it works out as scheduled.

    Hi dan.

    We are looking at being in UB from the 19th July 2013. We are planning to travel north and east. Is the sukhbaatar nadaam as good as the mandalgov nadaam? Ideally we wanted to tie the Sukh nadaam with travelling in the area rather than a special trip south. Thought we'd ask as value your opinion and you rated the Mandalgov festival. If it is much the same then we'll plum for the northern Sukh nadaam as long as its on!

    All Naadams are very similar. You can choose which ever fits your plans. The dates for the 2013 Naadam events will be published in late June.

    Hello,
    thank you for the great blog! I am canoeing across Western Mongolia thru Lake Baikal to Eastern Russia and have several questions. This is a personal expedition and I am not going through a tourist company. There are two of us. I was wondering if you had any advice in the following:

    1) Do you know how to get border crossing permits?
    2) Do you know of any companies that just hire car and driver one way to Western Russia?
    3) Do you know of any companies that we can use to arrange a driver for a border crossing?
    4) Do you know anything about getting cell phone service in rural northern Mongolia?
    5) Do you know anything about getting fisihng permits for Mongolia and Russia?

    Yes the Bulgan border is open.
    Every weekday from 9:00am to 19:00 with a lunch break at 13:00
    (Closed on the weekend, Satureday and Sunday)

    Some friends and I have planned a route to explore Mongolia based on Nadaam festivals on 2014 dates. Now the dates are published we find they have changed. Is there any way we can find out dates for the Sums so that we can catch a nadaam in one of them or maybe make a small detour to one? All of the Aimag capital's dates just don't fit our itinerary. I am sure some som will coincide if only we could get the dates. We will be passing through Dungovi, Omnigovi, Ovorhangi, Bayanhongor and Arhangay.
    Any advice would be appreciated. Allen.

    Saw somewhere the very detailed info you gave regarding bus M11 from ULN airport to city center but.... It was in 2010 :-)

    The info is basically the same, but the bus number has changed.
    CH-7 is the new number of the bus, in Mongolian it is Ч:7 НИСЭХ-ТӨВ НОМЫН САН-7 БУУДАЛ
    unlike in 2010, today you should purchase a bus card (near the bus stop), the card costs 3,600MNT and you charge it for a minimum of 500MNT which is the cost of the ride to the city center. All together much cheaper than a taxi.

    Hello. We ate looking for a car and driver to hire in Dalanzadgad from monday to thursday for 4 personns. Cheapest as possible. We don t want accomodation or food(we manage it by our own).

    Hi

    In Dalanzadgad the tour services are not well developed.
    The way to do it is to go behind the shops area near the main street
    you will see cars and drivers waiting to be hired.
    The drivers do not speak English.
    Try and find a young student who might be able to translate your negotiations with the driver.

    We are the group of 4 cyclist from Slovakia travelling to western Mongolia at the end of August 2016. We are independent and self-sufficient, with our own bicycles, panniers, tents, sleeping stuff, etc.. Our plan is to visit also ATB national park, White river, Khoton lake, Aksu hot springs, etc.. We know that border permit from local border police is necessary. How we can manage it? is it possible in Tsagaannur after border crossing from Tashanta? What is the fee? What next do we need to know about the permit?

    For Tavan Bogd park you need a permit obtained only in Olgii at the army base in town.
    The fee is small.

    There is no public transport from Kharkhorin to Dalanzadgad.
    The only way by public transport is to go back to UB.
    If you find more tourists wanting to go the same way,
    you can hire a local driver and share the costs.

    Hello, has anyone rented a vehicle from mongolian.travel ??
    They are giving me a good rate for a 4x4 but their site does not take credit card payments, though that was supposed to be working two weeks ago ... this makes me ponder their respectability.
    I need a vehicle with unlimited mileage, automatic drive....

    1. I do not have personal experience renting a vehicle from mongolian.travel
    2. Some agents accept bank transfer, that is common practice in Mongolia
    3. I am not aware that mongolia.travel have their own vehicles for private rentals
    4. The common way to travel in Mongolia is with a local driver + Jeep, which you rent through any of the tour agents. It is uncommon for foreigners to go off road driving without a local driver. a) the vehicles are not at best condition, b) not many road signs, c) most of Mongolia travel is offroad, d) maps are not as good as in the west e) distances are in thousands of miles
